Gallery TPW and the Reel Asian Film Festival are pleased to co-present the Canadian premiere of video work by Chinese artist Zhou Tao. Showcasing Zhou’s conceptual methodologies, his full body of video works will be accessible across multiple venues during Reel Asian. Whether in lush landscapes or suburban sprawl, imitating farm animals or somersaulting through cities, Zhou’s open narrative works mix cinematic document with performance gestures creating a unique perspective on the social and economic dimensions of living in China.

The presentation of Zhou Tao in Canada is co-curated by Siya Chen and He Cong. Siya Chen is an independent curator, facilitator and artist, living between China and Canada. Based in Guangzhou, China, He Cong is a curator, writer and editor currently working at Vitamin Creative Space as curator and project coordinator.

The 16th annual Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival takes place November 6-11, 2012 in Toronto and November 16-17, 2012 in Richmond Hill. www.reelasian.com

Based in Guangzhou, China, Zhou Tao has exhibited internationally, selected highlights include the 6th Curitiba Biennale, Brazil (2011), Minsheng Art Museum, Shanghai (2011), Museum Het Demein, Netherlands (2011), Location One, New York (2010), ICP, NY (2009), Chicago Cultural Center (2009).
