Join us for a “point of view” walk-through of Kelly Lycan’s exhibition WHITE HOT with Alison Syme, Assistant Professor of Modern Art in the Department of Art at the University of Toronto. Syme will discuss notions of collection, consumption and desire as they play out in Lycan’s installation at TPW. A Q&A with the artist will follow the walk-through.

Educator Biography

While educating and publishing on contemporary art practice, Alison Syme specializes in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century art. Her first book, A Touch of Blossom: John Singer Sargent and the Queer Flora of Fin-de-Siècle Art, is forthcoming from Penn State University Press.

Artist Biography

Kelly Lycan has exhibited in solo and group shows in Canada and the US, most recently at CSA Gallery in Vancouver. She is also a member of Instant Coffee, a service oriented artist collective that builds social structures, where ideas, materials and actions are explored. Instant Coffee has exhibited in Canada, South America, Europe and the USA. Lycan holds an MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
